Kalau kita mendengar nama Chevrolet Sonic sebagai sebuah seri mobil dari Amerika, mungkin akan terasa asing. Namun bila kita menyebut nama Chevrolet Aveo, maka kita akan langsung mengerti. Sebab produk yang satu ini pernah beredar dipasar Indonesia selama beberapa tahun lamanya dan hingga kinipun produk tersebut masih bisa kita lihat dijalan. Sebenarnya kedua nama itu merupakan satu produk yang sama Sonic adalah nama lain dari Aveo yang hanya beredar di Amerika. Kini generasi Sonic tau Aveo telah resmi dirilis dengan desain baru yang lebih menarik dan modern, selain itu juga didukung dengan velg berdiameter 15 inci untuk menopang body yang lebih besar dari generasi sebelumnya.

Tidak hanya pada penampilan luar saja yang berubah, dari sisi spesifikasi mesin The next Aveo juga mengalami perubahan besar. Dimana Chevrolet menanamkan mesin berteknologi turbo dengan kapasitas 1400cc yang mampu menyemburkan tenaga hingga 130 hp. Kendaraan ini juga diklaim memiliki tingkat efisiensi bahan bakar yang sangat bagus, hal itu dibuktikan dengan hasil pengujian yang menunjukkan, bahwa untuk 1 liter bensin mampu diajak berjalan hingga 17 km, hal ini mengingatkan kita pada Nissan Marc yang beberapa waktu lalu dirilis. Mobil ini juga telah dilengkapi Anti Lock Break Sistem (ABS) dan juga airbags yang akan memberikan tingkat keselamatan yang lebih bagi pengendaranya.

KIA motor sudah cukup lama hadir dalam pertarungan pasar otomotif di Indonesia, kiprah pertama mereka dimulai sejak menyuplai mobil nasional bernama TIMOR. Kini mereka sudah berhasil mandiri, meskipun pernah kolaps dan diakuisisi oleh Hyundai. Baru-baru ini mereka meluncurkan seri Mobil model Hatchback yang diberi nama “KIA RIO”. Mobil dengan 5 pintu ini hadir dengan desain keren, futuristic serta sporty. Ini adalah salah satu senjata mereka untuk bertarung melawan vendor-vendor besar seperti Honda dengan Jazz serta Toyota yang terus melaju dengan Yaris. Interior yang ditampilkan pada mobil ini juga terlihat mewah dengan dominasi warna hitam serta dilengkapi system Audio double DIN yang mendukung koneksi Bluetooth, USB dan aux-in.

Mobil buatan korea ini memang sedikit berbeda dari beberapa variant mobil hatchback yang berdar dipasar, sebab memiliki tampilan yang mengutamakan sebuah mobil masa depan yang manis namun tetap sporty. KIA RIO dibekali mesin berteknologi Continuous Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) serta Double Over Head Camshaft (DOHC) yang memiliki kapasitas 1.4 liter cc 4 silinder dan tenaga hingga 107 hp. Teknoloogi CVVT yang dipakai akan sangat bermanfaat dalam meningkatkan efisiensi bahan bakar, sehingga lebih irit denagn tidak mengurangi performa mesin. Pada versi manual, mobil ini dibekali transmisi 6 speed dan mungkin menjadi mobil pertama dikelasnya.

Dalam sebuah rumor PT Astra Daihatsu Motor sedang menyipakan variant “Daihatsu Sirion Edisi Spesial” pada tahun ini. Produk tersebut akan mengacu pada sebuah mobil di Malaysia bernama MyVi 1.5 yang dibuat oleh Perodua. Produk ini mungkin sangat cocok dengan karakter sirion sebagai mobil mungil yang licah serta gesit, sehingga pantas dijadikan barometer.

Bila dugaan bahwa Sirion Edisi spesial mengacu pada produk MyVi Malaysia, maka dapat dipredikasi bahwa spesifikasi yang dibawa juga tidak akan jauh berbeda dengan produk tersebut. Bila dilihat sepintas kedua mobil tersebut memiliki banyak kemiripan, baik dari segi desain, ukuran maupun kemampuan. Bila Myvi dibekali mesin 1.5 liter maka sirion SE juga akan dibekali kapasitas mesin yang sama. Dengan demikian maka tenaga variant terbaru tersebut mampu mencapai 110 dk atau meningkat kurang lebih 10 dk dari sebelumnya. Kita bisa menunggu beebrapa saat lagi hingga pengumuman resmi dari PT Astra Daihatsu Motor muncul.
